While there are plenty of events going on around us on a daily basis, very few are dedicated to the hard of hearing or deaf community.
But in the mid-western USA the Chicago hearing society has plenty of events lined up. Take April 6th to 9th for example, the chicagoclubdeaf.org are hosting the 81st Bowling Tournament.
The tournament headquarters will be at the Hyatt Hotel in Schaumburg,IL. They are expecting more than 300 bowlers and more than 100 fans from all over the US.
On Friday night there will be fun games like poker and chingo and (DJ play) performed by Bill Warnock. Then on Saturday night a show performed by Gary Etkie.
The bowling tournament it’s self will be a 3 day event and will be held at the Stardust Bowl in Addison. So whether your a college student or a senior citizen get out and have some fun.
Another fun event on Saturday April 22nd is the 13th Annual Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament for High School and College Teams, hosted by Harper College Deaf Institute.
This event will be held at the Bethel Baptist Church in Schaumburg IL. There will be a concession serving hot and cold food, snacks and beverages.
Or give this event a try that is being held on April 30th at the Swoboda Deaf Center in Chicago IL. This is being hosted by CODA (Child Of Deaf Adult).
This will be a special presentation in honor of Mother-Father Deaf Day. Enjoy the afternoon as stories and talents will be shared in celebration of our unique heritage, refreshments will be served.
These are just a few of the events going on in the mid-west. I am sure there are plenty more so get out and enjoy a few or enjoy them all. There is sure to be something to please everyone.
