Marcus Bentley - Fundraising Director
Marcus Bentley

Marcus Bentley became Fundraising Director for MDMPA in October, 2006.

He was born in Detroit, Michigan, grew up in Madison Heights, and currently resides in Grand Blanc.

Bentley graduated from Lahser High School in Bloomfield Hills.
He then attended Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. for one year, then Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, for two years. He received an AGS (Applied General Studies) degree from Oakland Community College. He also has photography and graphic designing experience.

Bentley enjoys working with kids. He spent three years as a paraprofessional for Eastover Elementary School’s Deaf/Hard of Hearing program in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He also worked as a counselor at Deaf Leadership Camp at Michigan State University and Camp Chris in Summer of 2002.

Bentley is currently a Resident Care Advisor for Michigan School for the Deaf in Flint, Michigan. He supervises students who reside in the dorms during the week days. He helps students with homework and fun activities after school. He teaches them about responsibility, leadership roles, social and life skills, as well as proper etiquette.

Bentley served as Secretary and Treasurer for the Michigan Deaf Bowling League in Warren, Michigan for 5 years (1998-2003). He has been a member of the ABC/USBC league for 11 years. He still participates in the GLDBA and CSBAD bowling tournaments and has traveled to many states for bowling. In 2005 Bentley and his team members won the CSBAD championship in Kalamazoo. In winter, 2006, he served as treasurer for Deaf Rock Café Poker League.

During his spare time, Bentley also enjoys watching movies, bowling, playing poker and fantasy football, watching and playing sports, collecting sports memorabilia, camping, fishing, networking and spending time with friends.




A Pageant First

July 28, 2007 will be the first time in history that Michigan will crown a Deaf Teen Queen.

The first teen pageant will be held at Kalamazoo State Theatre directed by Kendra Rose and Jamie Maes.

Contestants range from ages 13 to 17 and attend Michigan School for the Deaf or mainstreamed highs schools in the state of Michigan.

On April 6th, 2007 the Miss Deaf Michigan Pageant Association launched their new website design.

On our new site we've made it easy for you to access information. Site features include, color themed categories for Miss, Teen and Junior sections.
