Yemaya Rose Sharp
Jr. Miss Deaf Michigan 2006 - 2008
Yemaya was born Deaf in 1996 in British Columbia, Canada. She lived in BC for 3 years before moving to Dearborn, MI. When she was 5 years old, she moved to Rochester, Mi., and started Kindergarten in Bloomfield Hills' Deaf/HH program. She is currently in 5th grade at Eastover Elementary School. Yemaya lives in Oakland County with her sister, Mom, and Step Dad.
Yemaya has played soccer since she was 4 years old and has also been actively involved in gymnastics. Her favorite hobby is shopping!
Yemaya would like to go to Gallaudet University after she graduates from high school. Then she wants to move to Los Angeles and pursue an acting career.
A Pageant First
The first Miss Deaf Teen Michigan, Karlee Gruetzner and Mr. Deaf Teen Michigan, Ray McCall will compete in the Mr. and Miss Teen Deaf America Pageant at Model Secondary School for the Deaf in Washington, D.C. on March 5-8th.

On April 6th, 2007 the Miss Deaf Michigan Pageant Association launched their new website design.
