Favorite color: Pink/ wild color.

Favorite Sport: Cheerleading and Figure Skating.

Hobbies: I Enjoy reading magazines and books and going shopping, etc.

Favorite Foods: Arabic food and Italian food.

Favorite place to shop: Somerset Mall in Troy .

Pet's name: My dog's name is Tripp. He is wild!

Best Friends: Jonelle, Lia, Rhonda and Meliha

Favorite teachers: Ms. Wagner, from Lahser High School and Tavernit.


Family: Mom - Darlene, Dad - Ted, Brother - Teddy, Sister - Tai, Brother - Truth. My mom is Hard of Hearing. I have twin brothers (Teddy is Hard of Hearing). Also, My Sister Tai is Hard of Hearing. They are all oral in my family. But not me! My mother's parents are Deaf and she has Deaf relatives as well.

Favorite subject in school: Art, English and science

Favorite television shows: Friday After Next and 7th Heaven.

Favorite actor/actress: Tommy "Tiny" Lister.

Dream vacation: I dream about going to travel in Rome , Italy and the Hawaiian Island and so much more. I believe, it's so absolutely beautiful there. I have never been there before.

Travels: I have traveled to Ohio and Chicago , Georgia , etc. for family reunions. I learned a lot and had new experiences from conversations with my relatives. I learned how peaceful and quiet it is there. I also enjoy chatting with my Deaf relatives and playing with my Deaf cousins.

Favorite Quote: "Life doesn't play by the rules". (GIGLI Movie with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez).

Motto/Principle to live by: My motto in life is to walk in love and treat people the way I want to be treated. The principles that I live by are to love myself and keep the Lord Jesus Christ first in all that I do.

Where I want to be 5 years from now: My goal is to become an art teacher for Deaf children. I would also like to be a web designer. . I would like to get married and have children someday in the future. I would like to have a nice home and car to “live the right way”.

Most embarrassing moment: Most of my embarrassing moment was about the hair on arms. Some of the boys called me, "Tia Wolf". They didn't like the hair on my arms. They were trying to tell me to cut it off. I was like, "ok and will do it" but it seemed that it was growing so fast. So, I decided to leave arms alone. But, I am proud myself no matter what. I really appreciated that everyone can call me, "Tia Wolf". I loved it! What a funny stories about me.

My role models: My Parents, Kenya Lowe and Marc Cayce.

Additional things to know about me: My name is Tia Renee Dorsette. I'm 19 years old. Also, I am a Deaf person. My heritage is Iroquois and Mohegan tribes/Blackfoot . My Grandfather, Odell Addison shared his heritage with me. We are Native Americans. I'm a kind, loving sweet young lady who likes to help others. Some of my interests include photography, I like to draw and design and do arts and crafts.

 

 

 

A Pageant First

July 28, 2007 will be the first time in history that Michigan will crown a Deaf Teen Queen.

The first teen pageant will be held at Kalamazoo State Theatre directed by Kendra Rose and Jamie Maes.

Contestants range from ages 13 to 17 and attend Michigan School for the Deaf or mainstreamed highs schools in the state of Michigan.

On April 6th, 2007 the Miss Deaf Michigan Pageant Association launched their new website design.

On our new site we've made it easy for you to access information. Site features include, color themed categories for Miss, Teen and Junior sections.
