Jessica Salisbury
Miss Deaf, etc. 2005
Favorite color: My favorite color is pink without a doubt.
Favorite Sports: My favorite sports (to play) are basketball and softball. My favorite sport to watch is football. I am a big fan of Tom Brady!
Hobbies: My hobbies consist of shopping, working out, watching movies, and hanging out with my boyfriend, friends, and family. I have many to list but as of right now, there are my "hobbies."
Favorite foods: My favorite foods are Steak, grilled fish, protein shakes in the morning, and of course, chocolate.
Favorite places to shop: My favorite stores to shop (when I have the dollars) are Banana Republic, BCBG, Tiffany's, and of course, looking online at random stores to buy things!
Pets' names: In our family, we have 2 beautiful yellow labs dogs. They both are girls and their names are Maggie and Molly.
Best friends: I have many good friends but 2 of my best-"EST" friends are Morgan Stilwell and Ryan Boge. I'm very blessed with good friends but these two people are people that I can count on anytime, anywhere.
Favorite teacher: Mr. Jay Gross (from Shepherd, Michigan ) who was my teacher from High School. He is an amazing individual who teaches you about hard work ethics. If you want to get somewhere, do it, no buts!
Family: I have two brothers, Jerad who is 20 years old, and Javan who is 17 years old. My parents are Jim and Julie Salisbury. I love a lot of things about my family but since I can only list a few, they all know Sign Language. My brother, Jerad knew Sign Language before he could talk. They are all hearing.
Favorite subject in school: My favorite subject in school is English and writing.
Favorite television show: My favorite show is the Newlyweds! I love Jessica Simpson! If I could go on any show, I would love to go on Fear Factor and test my mental strength!
Favorite actor/actress: My favorite actresses are Jessica Simpson, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, and Halle Berry . My favorite actor is Denzel Washington.
Dream vacation: My dream vacation would be to experience Fiji and Hawaii . Not only because they are warm, but I would like to experience their culture (the way they live, exploring their culture, etc).
Travels: During the summer, I went with my church members and my pastor on a mission trip where we traveled to different states and helped different people build (and/or) fix their homes. Either they didn't have enough money to rebuild (poor), or they were too ill to do it. It was called "Church Work Camp". I learned a lot through this experience and I will never forget it.
Favorite Quote: *IN THE PROCESS*
Motto/Principle to live by: *IN THE PROCESS*
Where I want to be 5 years from now: What I see myself doing 5 years from now is to be an elementary teacher working with Deaf and Hearing students. I cannot wait to work with them and give them the feeling that they "CAN DO IT" regardless of anything that comes their way!
Most embarrassing moment: My most embarrassing moments - I cannot come up with one because in all honesty, I really don't embarrass easily. I have asked my friends and family and they all say the same thing, "YOU DON'T EMBARRASS EASILY." I pretty much go with the flow when it comes to situations such as embarrassing or funny.
My role model: My role models are: my mother, Julie Salisbury; my father, Jim Salisbury who teaches me a lot about strength and what to do in hard times; and my Grandpa Salisbury, who is currently fighting for his life battling cancer.
Additional things to know about me: I am very outgoing and I don't hold anything back. I'm very excited about this experience and hope to do my best! Thank you!
