Hillary

Pets' names: Oreo (my baby cat).

Best friends: Kendra Rose (for almost 21 years)!

Favorite teachers: Beth Tauke and Kent Kleinman, professors from the Department of Architecture at the University at Buffalo .

Family: I have a younger sister, her name is Victoria Hannah, but we called her "Torie" as her nickname. We both were adopted from South Korea by a single mother, Patricia Hannah who is the most amazing mother any daughter could have. She always finds a time to be there for me and my sister. She works very hard to do everything just right and make sure everyone is happy. What I love about my family is that we have gone through bad times and good times and we still love each other no matter what.

Favorite subject in school: Math.

Favorite television shows: Any show on TLC and CSI!

Favorite actor/actress: Julia Roberts.

Dream vacation: Trip to South Korea .

Travels: I was nominated to go to Beijing and Tainjing in China during the Pen International program at NTID in 2002. I had a great time. We went to many, many different places. For example, we went to the Great Wall of China , Tinnamen Square , The Forbidden City, and so on. During the last 4 days of trip, we went to a Deaf college and I learned so much about them. We taught each other some Sign Language and it was very challenging because our communication systems were very difficult. So, we had to use gestures most of the time and then we taught each other some Sign Language. It was so much fun!

Favorite Quote: You can do it!

Motto/Principle to live by: N/A

Where I want to be 5 years from now: Graduated from the University of Buffalo , get a good job at an architecture firm and probably get married.

Most embarrassing moment: Ah my most embarrassing moment! I was at a gas station one time. You know how you can pay for gas with credit card right next to your car? Well it wasn't working at that time. So I decided to get some gas first and then I went inside and pay with my credit card. I was going to sign my name on the receipt, but the pen (at a gas station) wasn't working at all. The ink had run out. So, I knew I had an extra pen in my pocket. Then I got my pen out of my pocket and tried to sign my name. But, it wasn't working at all. I was very, very exhausted at that time after staying up all night (3 days and nights in a row) working on my projects for school. What was I thinking? The pen was really a toothbrush. It was my most embarrassing moment of my life, but I still think it was funny.

My role model: My mother

Additional things to know about me: I was an ice skater for about 12 years. I was involved in a precision figure skating team. I was the only Deaf skater on the team. We went to several local and national competitions and we won 6th place out of the whole nation (about 300 teams).
